The Waves at Bayside is a luxury waterfront condominium proposed by Tridel and Hines for Toronto’s East Bayfront neighbourhood. They have yet to schedule an occupancy date, but it will be the fourth and final building in their award-winning community, coming in lieu of the project’s sold-out sister buildings.
Featuring renowned architecture from Denmark’s 3XN, this gorgeously terraced condominium will provide stunning views of Lake Ontario, access to a sunny pedestrian promenade and all the attractions that downtown Toronto has to offer. Its luxuriously-appointed suites will make living here a truly elevated experience.
Expected to feature peaks that reach both 19 and 16 storeys, with indoor party room and an expansive terrace with an outdoor swimming pool.
Tridel’s other nearby buildings include luxurious finishes, stunning amenity spaces and some of the newest home technology – including the Smart Suite system, which allows you control your home’s settings directly from your phone – so we’re expecting their newest addition to feature much of the same.
The building is shaped as a block-long slab whose middle has been carved away, with the removed mass redistributed at the ends, creating two peaks.
The building’s exterior is then carved at 45° angles so that all suites have views toward the lake, while balconies and terraces extend the living outdoors.
As the building steps back on higher floors toward each peak, a large percentage of the suites benefit from the steps with spacious terraces. Where the terraces of the two peaks split apart, the building’s shared amenities are found, both indoor spaces such as party rooms, and an expansive deck space with outdoor swimming pool.
The Waves will be the furthest east building in Bayside, an area south of Queens Quay between Sherbourne Common and the Parliament Street Slip.
Running up The Waves’ west side will be Merchants’ Wharf, a new U-shaped neighbourhood street connecting to Queens Quay at its two ends, while to the south and east of The Waves will be a new extension of the Waterfront Promenade, and then, well, waves: Toronto Harbour is to the south, while the Parliament Slip will become a new marina location.
East Bayfront condos in Toronto have been booming lately and we’re not surprised. The former industrial stretch is steps from all the downtown core offers and features some of the city’s best lake access, which has resulted in an influx of condominium developments in the area.
Some of these are master-planned communities, which will add significant office, retail and community space to the area too, making for a vibrant and livable pocket.
One of these will include enough space to support up to 2,000 jobs, while another one features significant commercial space targeting arts and cultural industries, as well as a new campus for George Brown College. A third has proposed an extension to the PATH network, which connects the downtown core through an underground pedestrian system. This is a growing region that makes a great place to invest.
The neighbourhood’s recent Queen’s Quay revitalization has already seen the addition of a new streetcar route, added greenery and a promenade for pedestrians and cyclists, which just happens to be immediately south of the building.
Not only are the gentle waves of Lake Ontario at your doorstep here, but the East Bayfront neighbourhood is a short streetcar ride to Union Station, which connects you with the city’s subway system, the GO train, VIA Rail and the Union Pearson Express.
The glittering Financial District, where it’s estimated approximately 200,000 people work, is easy to get to, along with the historic St. Lawrence Market and a wealth of restaurants and artisanal retailers.
Craving a serene and picturesque day trip? It’s a short walk to the ferry terminal, which takes you over to Toronto Island, a must-see during the warmer months.
